System Information
For DPG Outlook Office Addin to send secure mail, it requires a connection to the DPG Service. From the DPG Service, DPG Addin receives various types of information, such as:
- Which contact points are available
-
Whether you have access to look up CPR or CVR numbers
-
as well as many other details necessary for the system to operate.
If DPG Addin had to fetch this information every time you wanted to send an email, the system would be perceived as very slow due to the necessary communication with the DPG Server. Therefore, the information is stored temporarily in DPG Addin so it doesn't need to be transferred every time. Typically once a day, DPG Addin refreshes the information from the DPG Service to keep it current.
Similarly, DPG Addin stores certain information locally. When you send an email to a recipient that is validated by the DPG Service, DPG Addin saves the result of this validation, saving you from having to look up the same email recipient again for the next 24 hours.
Note
The DPG Service validates the information every time it sends an email - so you cannot, for example, send from an invalid contact point even if DPG Addin said it was valid when you sent the email. The DPG Service will always use the correct information.
By selecting a button at the bottom of DPG Addin, you can see information about the running system's integrations and status.
This information is particularly useful when contacting support.
The following types of information are displayed:
- Information: Details about the current version of DPG Outlook Office Addin as well as technical information about the current user.
-
Mailbox info: Which sender addresses can be selected, which types of secure mail each sender ("send from") has access to, which contact points can be selected, etc.
At the top of the page are several details and buttons:
Here you can see when the information was last updated (Retrieval Time) and when it will be automatically updated next (Expires At). You can choose to remove the information (Clear), or you can choose to refresh the information (Refresh), i.e., fetch it again from the server.
However, note that this should typically only be done in a situation where something is not functioning correctly.
-
Local Storage: Here you can see various technical data about your instance of DPG Addin. The most recently used email addresses are also stored here. Fields along the top of the table allow you to filter the list by sender email address, recipient email address, or key (Key).
Here you can remove all stored data with the Clear button, and you can select Refresh to reload information about DPG Addin. Again: This is only necessary if requested by DPG Support.
-
Email Metadata: Technical data about the emails you have sent.
-
Logs: This tab shows the complete log of actions in DPG Addin. You can search, sort, and filter the log by various parameters, including log level (whether it is, for example, an info entry, a warning, or an error). You can also export the log in JSON or CSV format.
The log is mainly of interest to technical personnel who need to investigate any errors.
