The user interface in DPG Outlook Office Addin

When you have started New Outlook or Outlook webmail, DPG Outlook Office Addin will be loaded in the background the first time you choose to start a new email. A few seconds after you have selected New mail, DPG AddIn shows a message bar above the email:

DPG ready

From the same bar, you can choose to open DPG AddIn or just close (dismiss) the message.

Note that the reason DPG AddIn is not always ready as soon as Outlook has started is due to the design of the Microsoft API. This applies to all Office AddIns.

You can open DPG AddIn from the above bar or from the DPG secure communication button in the toolbar. If you know DPG COM Addin (Classic Outlook), the first thing you will notice is that DPG AddIn opens as a panel in Outlook, not as a modal window. This makes it easier to make corrections to the email and changes to the secure mail settings at the same time.

DPG now continuously informs the user about any deficiencies in the email. For example:

Digital Post without from

Here the user has chosen to send Digital Post, but has forgotten to set their From address to a secure mailbox - and the user's own address naturally contains no valid contact points.

Thus DPG guides the user through creating secure mail.

In DPG COM Addin (Classic Outlook), all fields that can be filled in for each type of secure mail are shown immediately. In DPG Outlook Office Addin, fields are shown progressively as the user enables a function. This makes it more manageable. See for example the images below, where the user is guided through adding documents for signature in a mit.dk message:

  1. First, the sender contact point is selected.

    Sender contact point

  2. When a recipient is selected, new options open:

    Recipient selected

  3. When the Send for signature field is selected, further options open for selecting the main document and deadline for signature:

    Send for signature

This way, the user is not confused by the many options if they are not needed anyway.
