DPG COM Addin (Classic Outlook) release 7.55.0

In the following, we describe the changes that have been made to all versions of DPG Outlook COM AddIn for Windows that are still supported. Release notes are displayed with a version number, date of release, a brief heading, as well as a more detailed description of the new or altered functionality.

Preserve recipient's display name

DPG COM Addin has traditionally used the recipient's email address when the mail was placed in the sender's Sent folder in Outlook.

However, this could be a problem when a user searched for an email in their Sent folder. An email sent to the display name Hans Nielsen could, for example, be saved as sent to priv_mail@hotmail.com, and then the email would not be found when searching for Hans Nielsen.

This has now been changed so that if the recipient has a display name, it is used instead.

Exceptions

Note that certain exceptions apply: If the recipient's display name contains one of the following special characters, DPG COM Addin will use the email address instead. This is due to limitations in the Outlook interface. The following special characters are affected:

  • (, )
  • <, >
  • @, "
